A project we adopted was to do some renovation of an old planting at the H. M. MacDonald Elementary school in Maryvale. The essentially shrub border was very neglected. It was quite a task to dig up and remove weeds and grass. Copius quantities of compost and leaf mold were added. A hot, dry summer made us delay planting until later in the season. A few perennials and daffodils were added, as well as a nice clump of Canada 150 tulips. In the spring of 2017, we will need to do some serious pruning and try for some annuals to give some summer color.
Some of the funding for this came from the County of Antigonish.

The Christmas Gathering was hosted by Yvonne & Francis Maas at their home in Maryvale. A good number were in attendance and enjoyed good food, music, and the fun gift exchange.
