The 2023 season started in March. Kristine Swaren spoke to us on "Winter Sowing".
The April meeting was “TOOL TIPS, a SHOW & TELL”
Everyone was asked to bring their favourite gardening tool and share with the group why it is so helpful in their gardening efforts. There was a very interesting array of tools. Lionel Chiasson was on hand to remind us about care and maintenance of our gardening tools. He gave demonstrations on sharpening techniques.
Members contributed plants to the Plant sale held at Mayfest, and the sale was very successful. Members also received their free NSAGC plant in early May. Nice little plants of Scabiosa.
Much of the month of May included a "member to member" plant swap. Many availed themselves of the opportunity to get plants from and give to other members of our club.
Beverly Fraser was our guest at the May meeting. She demonstrated the art of planting attractive containers.
June was a busy month. Several members attended the Provincial Convention in Halifax. Our annual Potluck/BBQ was hosted by Lace Brogden at her lovely home in Little Liscomb. On June 26, we visited Jean Luc DeClerc in Maryvale, where we saw several composting techniques and an awesome display of vegetable growing, mostly in raised beds.
Our planned Garden Tours for July were rained out, but were successfully rescheduled for August. Three interesting Gardens were open to members. We also had a very interesting visit to the Gardens at The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home on August 10. Mary Partridge guided us through the various areas which included a vegetable growing area, a Sensory Garden and a Canadian Wildlife Certified garden.
We are gearing up for the fall season of regular meeting commencing in September.

Members were brought up to date on the plans for the coming year , volunteers for some small duties for the Club asked for, and the special 40th Anniversary meeting in October announced.
Everyone is invited to attend the District 2 Fall Rally in Lismore Oct. 14.
